How to find any file in Linux

Usually the webservers or service installed on your server use one management configuration file. Each service has a configuration file with a different path. Sometimes I don’t remember where the configuration files for editing. Fortunately, Linux has a tool to help you easily to find the path of any file.

For example, to search for the PHP configuration file, named php.ini I would use the command:

find / -name php.ini

In which / is the directory path you want to find (I use the root directory), the file name php.ini

“Locate” command has the same effect but not all server is installed and can use, but you give it a try:

locate php.ini
